how is ethereum sustainable considering i just tried to do a basic uniswap and gas estimate was 200 usd?

correct me if i am wrong but ethereum as a mechanism for swapping is beyond ridiculous? honestly how is your gas fees this high now? i though 30 bucks in feb 2021 was nuts.
