Getting started with blockchain programming

So I'm sold on blockchain, ethereum, web3, and dapps in general. I have nothing but free time and I have a deep understanding of python, javascript and a lil typescript. I want to get started with blockchain programming and solidity seems like the right move, but after seeing some serious criticisms about the language and just lack of support because of it being such a young language has definitely made me hesitant to invest my time into learning it. So for anyone who has blockchain programming experience where should I start and is solidity worth learning?
