Ethereum Proof-of-Stake difficulty question

From what I understand so far, I will need to stake ETH that I own, and in exchange I will be eligible to randomly be chosen to verify given block(s)

My question about the verification process itself: with the new PoS idea – is it still GPU intensive – or now that I need to stake my own Ethereum – the difficulty for block verification will be much easier, for example just a simple computer?
