Experiment Week 5: What if you kept buying terrible performing coins?

I started an experiment last month, where I paper-trade the 10 worst performing coins of the top 500, sell after a week and repeat that process to see how it all goes. These are the results.

Again I want to note, this is a paper experiment. No actual purchases are being made. The only purpose is to see the results.

Coin Short Profit/Loss
KARMA -$676.10
ANC -$86.57
SUKU +$77.20
BOTX +$149.50
RGT +$177.40
CENNZ +$224.10
MFT +$305.46
BTCST +320.43
PERP +$381.52
STAKE +$477.64
Profit this week $1350.58
Profit since start $2149.32
Total to spend this week $12149.32
Profit if I had spent the initial 10k on btc $2421

This is an interesting week. The week before was very red, and now we have a very green week. So, let's start off. We've made a pretty sweet profit, but so far we're still down from if we had kept the 10k in BTC instead. It's easy to see why. With last week BOTX giving us 550 loss and this week KARMA giving us almost 680 loss, there's a few really big outliers.

And, that is the part that is interesting. I fully expected this to happen. As the experiment is as simplified as can be, you will pick the absolute shittiest shitcoins from time to time. Both KARMA and BOTX are low volume shitcoins with very strong up and down movements on a consistent basis. This week KARMA saw a bottom of 0.002 and a height of 0.03, and that kept bobbing up and down the whole week through. Current volume, $426. BOTX, with a volume of 25k, is only a little better. Seeing less sharp movements but overal it's up down up down up down.

So, hereby a minor change in the experiment. No extremely low volume coins with crazy movements. And if you want low effort trading, this isn't something that makes it a lot more difficult. But I do think further on it will make the experiment more interesting not having to be bothered with coins like that. Gives a more accurate idea of "buy the lowest, await the bounceback".

So yes, we see KARMA with 676 loss, BOTX making up a little for last week's loss. STAKE rocking it with 477 profit. Only 2 coins with a loss. And who is surprised by that in this crazy bull market?

Only KARMA dropped out of the top 500 this week. The rest stayed around last week's position. Which is different from the previous week. The first time the coins moved about the same as the rest of the market instead of worse.

Let's move on the the new 10 biggest losers of the week. From bottom to less-bottom, we're seeing a 62%-20% loss in these 10. Spend per coin = 1214.93

Coin Short Amount bought
BTMX 1066
SPND 32519
ERN 27.17
CFX 1135
ORN 70.15
AUDIO 370.4
ETN 41282
ATT 1579
VTHO 79615
RNDR 723.17

Plenty of unknown coins again, but a few names we've seen plenty of times. BTMX, ORN, AUDIO and VTHO are known around these parts. Their rank ranges from 99 to 248, with a single outlier at 422. Which is again quite different from the previous week rank ranges.

It's going to be an interesting week. Since we're full on in a bull market right now, we can only wait and see if the same holds true for next week. And, I am quite surprised we're seeing these levels of losses in the middle of a bull market.

We can only wait and see what returns the next week will bring us!
