A coin is rising fast. Is it worthy to fomo into? A little guide.

The answer to this question is never simple as the market is unpredictable. But there's some telltale signs.

  • I'd the volume is very low, don't fomo into it. Coins with very low volume are easy to manipulate. And depending on the volume you might not even be able to sell your bag.
  • Check the charts. Does it have a historical of large up and down movements? If so, leave it alone!
  • Exactly how fast is the movement? 1000% over 24 hours, 1 week, 1 month? Maybe 1000% over 20 minutes. The faster huge gains are the more likely there's a data bug or outside manipulation (pump and dump mainly).
  • DYOR. Google the coin and see if there's any specific news that might explain the rise in value. Cmc and cg sometimes also list big events with the coin. If there's no clear reason for the rise, fomoing into it is very dangerous.
  • Check where you can purchase it. Big exchanges tend to have safer rises than small exchanges. The small exchanges are often untrustworthy. And getting it from a swap means taking fees into consideration. If you want to fomo 100 into a coin, uniswap will require a 3x/4x gain just to break even.
  • Age of the coin. If a coin is very new and rises really fast, there better be a very solid reason for it. Most likely it is just a scam. If the coin is older, checking past spikes and 2018 ATH's can help you make a decision. Plenty of 2018 bags that are at a fraction of ath price even after a spike. Research the history.

There's no guaranteed answer on what a coin will continue to do after a strong rise, but you can take the necessary steps to reduce your risk.
