With the last Cardano 360, it looks very promising

Charles annouced launch of private test net on april 1st for the Alonzo update (smart contracts) and getting launched onto the main net in roughly late June or July.

Also their development of Plutus seems to be going pretty well and it could be fully ready in 6 months. Honestly kinda thrilled to see it all finished, it could become perhaps equal to ETH one day
