Fluctuating Hashrate – Is this normal?

I recently started mining Ravencoin just to learn how it works using some old hardware I had lying around. The Statistics page on the mining pool shows my client as disconnected sometimes and other times it is shown as having a hashrate several times higher than the GPU status from teamredminer. My local terminal never shows me as being disconnected from the pool. Is this a problem with my setup or is the Statistics page on 2miners wrong? Am I simply running hardware that is so slow it looks like it is disconnected?.
