Thermal pad question

Possible stupid question. I’m replacing the thermal pads on my 3080ti. It calls for 2mm on the memory chips 1mm everything else and 3mm on the back plate

Can I double up a 1mm on the memory chips or just order some 2mm

My gut says no, but….
