Will MOON’s make you rich? Clearing up the biggest MOON misconceptions.

I have seen an overwhelming amount of confusion from many members of this sub on moons. I don't blame them for this at all, seeing as many parts of them are not explained clearly by the guides in this sub. Here are some of the most common misconceptions answered:

Wait, so my moons increase by 20% each month just for holding them?

Not exactly. The 20% bonus for holding moons only applies to the moons that you earn the next month. For example, if I earn 100 moons in august and I still have at least 100 moons in September, the amount of moons awarded for September will increase by 20%. This scales down so that If i had 80 moons in September, then my bonus would be 80/100(20%) so 16%. This same logic applies to the 5% bonus for voting in governance polls.

Can moons be tipped without losing out on this 20% bonus?

Unfortunately tipping moons reduces your bonus. This seems like a flaw in their design to me.

Why is the amount of moons being given out so low nowadays? How do some people have hundreds of thousands of them?

The moons distributed each month is always decreasing, and the number of members in this sub is always increasing. There is a moon to karma ratio that dictates how many moons you earn for each point of karma earned in a given month. This was much higher back in the day, but it was only 0.2 last distribution. Mods also earn moons for their work so that explains why some of them are such whales.

I've heard I get double moons for comments. How does this work?

Correct! Karma earned from comments counts double for moon counting purposes. There is currently a cap at 15000 karma that can be used to earn moons, which works out to 7500 comment karma.

Will moons make me rich?

Maybe, I sure hope so. There are currently only 70000 people who have set up moon vaults, which is a very small percentage of the sub. There is no doubt that moons will become more and more scarce as the moon per karma ratio decreases. This combined with the fact that moons have not hit the Ethereum mainnet yet makes me very bullish on them. I don't have a crystal ball, but I think they will probably hit 10$ given enough time. A 10$ price tag would only be a market cap of 650 Million, which sounds very big, but keep in mind SHIB is worth 6 times that. Crypto is a crazy thing, who knows what the future holds.

I hope this helped some of the people who are confused about moons. If moons get high enough I pledge to invite you all to a yacht party.
