Crypto Mining is Dying?

I saw stuff about ETH 2.0 and people were saying mining is going to die very soon subsequently. Is this true for Raven? I was thinking of making a small machine for it, is Ravencoin going to be ok to mine 2-4 years from now? Or will only time tell?
