A question about EIP 1559

So let me get this straight.

Ethereum will (or might) become deflationary after EIP1559.

What happens when too much Ethereum is burned and supply becomes too low?

Also, how will they know they have reached this point if there’s no way to verify the total supply of Ethereum?
